I have a freak problem my car is running hot again. It is like the thermostat is stuck closed again. I have put six thermostats in in the last 3 years. I have used them right from the dealer and also different autoparts. The water pump and raditor were put in last year when the engine was rebuilt. I also put 2 in last year.

Not to try and be sarcastic or anything, but you know for a fact the thermostat is installed in the right direction, right? I know I put mine in backwards one day. Would run fine, then heat up real bad, then go back down. Took it apart and realized the problem. If its in right, what shape is your fan in? A lot of cracks or chips in it? Is the fan clutch still good, or is it going bad? Do you have an electric fan, if so, is it working? And the last thing I can think of is a head gasket possibly going bad. Hope this helps you some.

You say your pump was replaced. Serpentine belt pumps spin in reverse rotation. "smooth pump pulley" If a older pump was put on it could also cause your problems. As far as I know, you can only tell the difference with the pump off, looking at the impeller. The outside looks the same.

To add to the confusion I have a 86 LTD motor in my Bronco. It came with a serp belt but does not reverse spin. "The pulley is grooved" I know the pumps changed somewhere in those years. The other sugestions are also good.
