NEED HELP! No oil pressure!
Well, I just started my car and started to drive it and after about 1/4 mile of driving I started to hear a tick like maybe an exhaust leak or a lifter sticking, so I thought I would check it out when I got home. Well after about another 1/4 mile it started getting alot louder and I looked down and saw that I didn't have any oil pressure. So I shut it off and towed it home. Any ideas on what happed? FYI I had just ran it pretty hard threw a few gears, all the way to 5700, and it was fine, I parked it for an hour or so then went to leave my buddys and thats when everything started. Thanks

Man, definately the beggining of a blown motor, luckily you shut it off in time, if it's not a bottom end noise, you probaly just need an oil pump, but could have been worse, you could of heard a rod, or main bearing give out, man you run nice and quick times, you should upgrade to an a4, or d.s.s, but hah easier said than done, im barely paying for a t-5, i pray my oil pump holds up throught the 200k mark. good luck buddy

Well, the bottom end is stock with 128k on it, so It lasted for alot of beatings. How can I tell if thats what it is? Could it have spun a bearing? Broke the oil pump shaft??? I pulled the distributor when I got home and everything looks good there, but I know that doesn't say much. I'm thinking about just putting togather the 351/427 stroker kit I have in my garage. It's about time for some more power. Whats going to be needed for the upgrade to a 351? Thanks

Check your oil pump shaft, thats what just broke on my car. Your cars fine if you didnt run it to the point of seizing up with no oil.
See if you can turn the pump, it could have seized up too. If those aren't the problems, something weird is up. Have you looked for any leaks from the oil filter. Have you had an oil change recently. Sometimes the filter can back off if not tightened enough. My friend had that happen 4 days after going to a Jiffy Lube and he got a new engine because of the ticking noise. It could be something inside your engine that failed though like you mentioned. Sorry to hear your misfortune!

There`s a plug under the lower intake at the back of the block that can blow out and you will have no oil pressure. I had it happen.
Also the plugs around the cam could have blown out. I had that happen too. But now every thing is tapped with screw in plugs. ------------------ 85 mustang coupe with a 88 block, edelbrock 6022 aluminum heads, crane roller rockers, aluminum driveshaft,C-4 trans,3500 stall,3.73 gears, lakewood traction action liftbars with air bag in right rear spring, longtube headers, flowmasters, weiand stealth intake,600 holley, best e.t. 1/8 mile 7.98 best mph. 85.84 best 60 foot 1.72... |

UPDATE! I took apart the top of the motor first to see maybe if a lifter had jumped out of the hole and everything was fine. So I then pulled the oil pan and took off the oil pump and the shafts fell out in two peices, I got it out and looked and it looked like a twizler. The oil pump was locked up of course also. So what do you guys think? Something got in the motor? Thanks for all the help!

Ok, I got my oil pump apart and there was a compression stop in it from one of my valve cover gaskets. I also was able to jack up the motor far enough to pull the oil pan out and clean it. Now I just can't get it to go back in for some odd reason. So I guess I'm going to have to pull the motor. Are you suppose to be able to get the pan out?

If you put a 351 in your car, Holcomb Motorsports sells allot of conversion stuff, might want to give them a call.
