Holy crap man!!!! Were you trying to teach those ricers a lesson? You just got that car.

The 85 T-5 tranny should go for about $300-$500 in great condition.

The engine is probably anywhere from $200-$400.

What happened to it?

Default ok its

Ok The right front part of the car is totaled, The frame is bent so i don't even want to bother with it. I think im going to keep the engine and tranny and put it in a truck or something. I was just going around a corner and lost control and hit a telephone pole. I was only going about 10- 15 mph too. It really sux! I should have been paying better attention.

A couple hours on the frame rack at Ford will probably fix that right up. The Mustang has a Uni-body that is pretty flexible up front. It's not hard to bend the radiator support or any of that.

I'd get an estimate before you write the car off. Louie's in Champlin has some older fox's that you could rob parts from if you needed them.

Default Hey dudes, you got to help me here

Ok, The Enduraflex front bumper is done for. And the frame in the front is bent in. The fender is done for too. But thats about it. I just side swiped it. How much do you guys think this could go for to be fixed? Excluding paint? Just enough to get it running again? $5000 maybe. Thats way too much for me. Way too much. Please help dudes, i need it bad to the bone!!!!!!

Relax...find a body shop with a frame machine and have it pulled straight, probably run you a couple hundred. Get a new or used fender, front bumper cover, etc...for under a grand, and bolt it all back up. Youll be on the road under $2000 not including paint job.

By the way, that is not considered "totaled" from your desription. I used to have the nickname of "crash", so I have a lot of experience in this area. Do you have tools? Are you good at mechanical work? If not, now would be a good time to buy some and to learn.

I know its not very easy to get estimates if you cant drive the car. I would get on the phone and talk to some people in the local body shops. tell them exactly whats going on and ask them for a ball park estimate. You might also call around and try to find some slavage yards with mustangs. You might find a bumper, but finding a straight fender in a salvage yard is a little harder. My uncle has a body shop here in okc and ive worked with him there a little. Fixing the frame isnt all that hard if you have the tools for the job, but it can take a while, and labor can cost ya. I would hope that you could get the frame, bumper and fender taken care of minus paint for less than $2000. One thing to keep in mind is that there may be more hidden dammage that you dont know about yet.

Good luck man, and I'm sorry about you car

I wasn't there, but to me it's simple math. he just got the car, he just got his license, he was going around a corner, and when he gunned it, it got away from him. 10 to 15 sounds right, at the point of impact. The speedo was probably reading 45 or 50 (wheel spin). C'mon guys, don't you remeber the first time a car scared you by having more balls than you thought? When I was 14, I use to sneak out at night and steal my Dad's Buick Regal. I would drive all over for an hour or two, and come home. One night it was raining, and when I punched it coming around a corner, it fishtailed. I had never experienced that sensation before, and I over-corrected. Ended up ontop of the trunk of somebodies Caddy. It was just a lack of experience, and, in my case, thinking I knew everything (I did, too!).

Take care,
-Chris

I agree with PKRWUD, and assumed everybody else would know the combination of young stupid kid driver and fast cars dont mix. Thats why my nickname was "crash". I could describe every stupid thing i did in a car when I was young, but it would take 20 pages or more..
Not to mention the mustangs have a tendency to slide and fishtale all over the road. You should drive an 85' camaro for your first car. Then when its not broken down, it would not have enough power to break them loose anyway...

Hey Mach 1, you ain't kidding about the Camaro! My first car was an 82 Firebird that I absolutely thrashed. Not until I was older and wiser did I succesfully try the Stang.

PXCR,
I know where there is an 85 LX that is being parted out. The front of his car is mint. If you want his fenders, bumper, etc.,then shoot me an email at DRStang69@aol.com.

The frame work probably won't cost as much as you think. I had a Stang that I crashed that had a bent cowl and radiator support, accordioned floor, the left strut tower was pushed back 5/8", and the mounting points for the crossmember were pinched together 1/2" too close. A local body shop did all of the frame work for 20 hrs of labor @ $68/hr, for a total of $1360.
Of course my K-member was bent too, but I just look at that as an opportunity for a tubular aftermarket piece.
