how do I build 450 HP
hey guys, I'm comming into a new job (after being layed off) and want to finally get my ride going fast.
I want to get my beast to 450 to the ground. strait forward.... what will I need (FI I know) what boost type, how many pounds, and what will need to get replaced. I'm going to redo the suspemsion with road/street maximum motorsports gear (maybe their topline if I feel the need) and going with a t-56 wiht tri ax and king cobra clutch with billit flywheel. I need to know what I'm missing and what will make the motor roar. and unlike last time I no longer have a large cash flow so I'm trying to save as much as possible with getting my stang to my ideal. It doesn't take much from a mod motor to get 450hp. Basically a good blower say around 9-10psi, long tubes, free flowing exhaust, and maybe a couple bolt on's such as maf, etc. Good luck.

Well along with FI @ around 10 psi your going to need to upgrade your fuel delivery and I'm not sure about the 99+'s but you may want to get forged pistons...just a suggestion, but I've heard of ppl blowing their stock sh1t above 10 psi (obviously they run it hard) but it's a good thing to look into...I would suggest a blower w/ after cooler, long tubes, 36# injectors and a bigger fuel pump and you should be close

the only really thing you have to worry about above 10psi would be the plastic intake. their notorious for cracking under high boost.

if I go with an AT procharger with intercooler, get the 8lb setup. follow up with long tubes, basani short X pipe and basani strait through mufflers I should get close? also I'd need to do what to jump to higher boost?

you should be fairly close to that. If not over your 450hp goal. To jump to higher boost get rid of that plastic intake. PHP has a stage 2 kit that's awesome for supercharged cars. Look into it.

PHP?
also, with just the 8 lbs and ATI stage 2 will I need to do the pistons, rods, or crank? I noticed the wheel can be changed to a 12 Lb and when I jump from 8 to 12 I know I'd have to do the pistons, rods, and crank, but will I for the 8? I can do the install myself on the SC.... so I just need to scrape up 3600 and get a dyno Torinalth

PHP=Pauls High Performance. They specialize in modular motors such as SHM and others. With just the 8lb pulley you'll be more than fine. Anything over that you'd need to change the crank, rods, etc to keep from spraying **** everywhere

Well, you can make 450 rwhp in two ways: on the edge or reliable.
467 RWHP Blown 02 GT The above is a great indication of the parts you'll need for the power, but if you want to do it reliably, you'll probably want a built short block with something like a Cobra crank, Manley rods, and 8.5:1 JE pistons. If you throw in a Bullitt intake it'll help that much more. The rest is pretty much well known. As others have said, check out Hammer's combo.

hmm, interesting....
when I do end up dropping 12-14 PSI I will need a good setup.... what kind of increase would I see from going from a 4.6 to a 5.4 longblock from SHM? if I was at, say, 400 with the above described, and dropped the 5.4 in would I get any gains? or would it be worthless? and when I jack the PSI to 14 will I notice more power from the 5.4 over the 4.6? just trying to figure out the best way to get power and do it safe. Like they say..No replacement for displacement Seriously though you would see incredible gains from the SHM 5.4 motor. And with 14psi you'd be pushing some major hp.
