Default need rear end help

My pumpkin had been leaking so I decided to change the gasket back there while I was home. I think I knocked something out of place though as I slid the cover off. I think they may just be shims and I am hoping someone can tell me I can just slide them back into place, but I though I better check. I know these rear ends can be a pain in the *** and I don't know much about them, so I thought I'd check with you guys before I went and did something really stupid!

Sorry the pic isn't great...I am having trouble resizing it. You can see on the left though where it looks like some shims/rings have kind off slid out some. Can I just gently push these back into place, or did I create a big mess?

hey heth, from what I can tell from the pic it looks like carrier sjde shims and you didnt knock them out. but somehow they must have workedthemselves out youre going to have to check back lash and make sure the thin shims are under the main cap.

Thanks for the reply. I know next to nothing once the rear is apart, so I am going to wait for my step-dad to get home around midnight to take a look at it. In the meantime I can give it an oil change and new fuel filter .

He is thinking along the same lines as you. I am going to talk to a few shops to make sure, but he thinks things may be a little loose and allowing them to work themselves out. Probably going to have to add another shim and then check the lash. I can't believe that they would even be able to work themselves that for out, but apparently they did. Thanks for your help!
