Default Needs A Diet

While there are many things id like to do on my car, there are only a few im not sure how to go about doing. The main one is lightening it up. Id just like to know what you guys reccomend doing to lighten up the car as much as possible while still having some of the creature comforts(all the seats, and keeping the stereo) but other than that nearly everything is a target. I have aluminum heads, rear mounted battery, ac was allready taken out, and now i cant figure out what exactly i should do. basically i want to have a car that will handle good and hook well. So any reccomendations you guys have would be greatly appreciated. By the way my car is a 1982 Mustang GT. Thanks Again.

Lightbulb Dieting

Not a lot you can do to reduce weight and still have a livable vehicle once the A/C is out and the seats and stereo stay in.

I would suggest a fiberglass hood and possibly some lighter wheels (non-steel) as well as dumping any excess baggage and cleaning up the engine compartment (lose emissions components - if possible).

Your '82 probably doesn't weight much over 3,000 pounds as it sits now which is plenty light by today's standards.

Thanks. Ive been looking into a fiberglass hatch(mainly because mine has a bit of rust starting under the lip). And i allready pulled out all the emissions stuff when i got it. As for wheels, how to the Mustang 10-holes work? Im presently using a set of TRX's until i can get some new tires for the 10-holes. Just out of curiousity where can you find fiberglass hoods for 82's. I dont seem to see alot of them, but if they had kind of a factory fiberglass hood that would be perfect because i have the (now) functional factory hood scoop. Thanks again for any help.
