Default A new convert

I've been a die hard mopar owner and raced a '73 340 Duster in the late eighties. I went and bought a '91 5.0 LX. The cost of biulding a '65-'74 Mopar is just too much. So, I looked at getting the best bang for the buck. It has an excellent body and interior. Fiberglass hood, dual exhaust w/ flowmasters, an engine( less that 1000 miles on it, over .030 bored 2.00 or something intake valves and 1.94 exhaust or so) with a monsterous cam( guy said it had a .545 lift or so) and a 4.10 posi rear pin. The two probs to fix first off are a surging prob, check engine light, and the motor vibrates a little too much.

Any help with those probs would be great.

Oh, my other project is dropping a '96 Dodge 360 magnum into my '84 W150.

You might need to ditch the 'big' cam for something more streetable - and compatable with the rest of the engine.

Why pollute your nice combo with an alphabet cam.....I would most definitely go with a custom grind.

While a different cam may help. The car should still run with what's in it.

Search around I know you can find lots of threads here and on other mustang boards about surging. And you should be able to pull codes from the computer to help also.

I would worry that if you don't try to fix the symptoms now, they could still be there with a different cam.

What else was changed? Throttle body? MAS? Injectors? If someone put heads and cam in they likely changed some of these things also, or if not maybe they need changed to keep up with the thirsty engine?

Just some food for thought
Good Luck
