Chassis dyno numbers
So I went to Paxton, it put out 223 rwhp and 235 rwtq. I have heard that a Dynojet will give higher numbers than the Mustang dyno like the one that Paxton has. My car definitely feels faster that 223hp, but I could be wrong. When all of you have had your cars on the dyno, which one was it and have any of you guys heard anything relating to this. Just curious.

The guy I go to uses a Mustang Dyno and he has to adjust by about 30%. They have more parasitic drag than the Dynojets. I about dumped after I saw what I was putting down, but then he explained the difference and I felt more comfortable with it.

It's not that Mustang dynos have more parasitic drag, but they add resistance at higher speeds to simulate wind resistance. Just like when you go down the track. Dynojets are old technology and do not do this.
Basically what it comes down to is this: If you want to tune your car to run it's best numbers at the track, use a Mustang dyno. If you just want a dyno sheet to brag about, go with the Dynojet. ------------------ 1988 Mustang GT 11.8 @ 123 (7/14/01) 1992 BadAzz Wrangler 1993 Explorer |

LfiveohX - Does Paxton do any dyno tuning? Do they hook up a wideband O2 sensor to measure A/F ratio? How much does it cost?

Ask Skyman about the Mustang Dyno. He got some relly screwball numbers not too long ago. His car is hella fast, but he still got flamed for mentioning those numbers.
My car dynos on the DynoJet at 224/262 naturally aspirated with a fairly mild street engine. That's with a C-4. I think mine puts out about 300 SAE at the flywheel. Rev ------------------ '66 Coupe, 306, 300 HP, C-4, 13.97 e.t., 100.3 mph 1/4 mi. |

Definately, go w/ the Mustang Dyno for a more accurate reading on what your car's putting to the pavement!

What mods are on your car? I see none on your sig. 223rwhp is a ton if you are close to stock.
I got 332rwhp and 351rwtq at Germanson over in oxnard on their mustang dyno. Ive always thought the numbers were wack, I want to goto paxton. How much was it? Thanks all for replying. As for my mods, I have a GT40 crate engine with the GT40Y heads and an E303 cam. Cobra intake, 65mm TB, 73mm MAF, 24lb injectors, Pulleys, Motorsport 1 5/8" ceramic coated headers, Bassani cat X pipe, American Thunder Flowmaster cat-back and 3.73's. I also have a Lentech AOD, which by the way is sweet. If any of you guys have an AOD, I would highly recommend getting at least one of their valve bodys. It eliminated the AOD Shuffle everyone hates. It changes the shift pattern so "Low" is now "1st", the first "Drive" is now "2nd", and "Overdrive" is now "3rd" with an electronic delete of "Overdrive". If you leave it in the old "Overdrive" position, It is full automatic. I bought it with the 10" converter and the hardened input shaft. They advertise in most every Mustang magazine. Check it out! Anyways, I'm not sure how much they charge for a dyno tune because I know Lance over there, and he hooked me up for free. They are the coolest guys over there. I would recommend anyone to take their Stang to them. My fuel pump is still stock, I have not installed an adjustable FPR, and my Coil is still factory, still saving up to get these, so I have not had it tuned at all. I feel like my numbers are not too bad considering that. If anyone is interested, I work at Vista Ford in Oxnard, Call me on my cell (805) 207-5690. I can give you their number cause I'm not sure on the prices.

Your stock fuel pump is definitely your biggest problem right now. There's no way a worn out 88lph fuel pump can keep up with the demands of 24# injectors and your potential for horsepower. Don't bother with an adjustable FPR until you exceed the limits of your 24# injectors.

jimberg- Do you think that my stock Ignition coil is also hurting my performance significantly? I've been told that they are pretty good up to approx 350 hp. I definitely agree though that a bigger fuel pump is my next install. 46stang - I'll try to stop by today at about 11:00. 89cp - Have you been to the dealership before. I've seen a silver coupe in there before. Is that yours?

Your stock ignition coil is fine. Did you get a graph from the dyno facility and is that something you could scan and post on here? Did it just sort of flatten out at peak HP?
Let's run some numbers here real quick and calculate to what degree your pump is limiting you. 88l/h * 1.5625 lb/l = 137.5 lb/h. Divide that by 8 and you get 17.1875 lb/h distributed across the injectors. Multiply that by 16 for total possible HP (assuming .5 BSFC). That's a max of 275 HP. Don't expect to get 100% out of your fuel pump, either. Factor in 20% loss for AOD and you get about 268 HP at the flywheel. It's scary how much the numbers match up. ------------------ 351W 89 Mustang GT Convertible |

I have the chart from the dyno, but I don't have a scanner to post it here. But it makes sense because my car pulls hard on the graph until about 4700 rpm where it levels out until it max's out at 5250 which is where the printout shows 223.3 @ 5250rpm. It is almost the exact same spot on the chart where the torque curve starts to drop also. max torque was 237.7 @ 4750rpm. Do you think I am hurting the engine? The line on the graph is at about a 45 degree angle as it is climbing, almost perfectly straight, and then it's like it falls on its face at approx 4700. I didn't even think about it being because of lack of fuel. I was just upset that it wasn't more and didn't question why it wasn't more. Thanks for the info.
