Default New Exhaust

I was wondering why Bassani x pipes and cat-back system is so much more money then a flowmaster or mac cat-back? Is it worth the price differance?

We looked at Bassani in our stang rebuild. Reason Bassani is higher-cost than MAC and others - it's stainless steel if I remember correctly. This means last a life-time. We evaluated the extra cost and decided to go with MAC as we took the extra money and got other needed parts for the car.

MAC cat-back has an awesome sound install was smooth and easy. We also went with long-tube headers - all long tube installs are a pain but worth it. I don't think I'd go with MAC again for long-tube headers as I've had constant rubbing with the steering linkage on drivers side.

Default Bassini x-pipes

I went with a Bassini exhaust system for my 93', it not only sounds better than the flowmasters I did have, but they flow better as well. I gained about 35-40 horses and they are stainless steel so they won't rust or wear out. They are expensive, but I think there worth it.

Default 30-40 horses?

What type of modifications do you have that you can gain 30-40 horses with an exhaust? Seems a little high to me

BTW, I assume you mean you picked up those gains with the Bassani exhaust compared to numbers you made with Flowmasters. Or, was the HP you gained with Bassani being compared to the stock exhaust?

I am interested, as I run Flowmasters now but am in the market for a new exhaust set-up. Just waiting till funds become available and trying to decide on a brand.

I think it's a 30-40hp gain from the stock system. They say it should last a life time which makes it worth the money in my eyes. No rust.

I would think those kinds of gains would be over stock exhaust, but I wasn't sure with the way Mongo's post was worded:

it not only sounds better than the flowmasters I did have, but they flow better as well. I gained about 35-40 horses ......

I'm 99% sure BASSANI before it entered into the 5.0 world, was very well know for it's high quality aftermarket Motorcycle exhaust systems, and there 5.0 stuff is VERY HIGH quality and worth every penny, although they may make Stainless components, this alone is not the reason for there premium prices, QUALITY is the reason.
