New Member - Hopefully New Car
 

Wassup guys(and gals, I suppose). Im Justin, 16. Im into American cars, so you wont hear me **** talking Chevys because I like them too, so do shoot me LOL.

I recently owned an 87 Sport Coupe Camaro with the shitty 305 and automatic. It needed a little work, so I sold it for $1500.

Went to my uncles car dealership and looked at an 89 LX Mustang(hatchback) on the lot. It's blue and has a 5.0 with a T-5. It has 113k miles, and my uncle knows the older guy who owned it before. The older guy bought it to have something with a little bit of power, but babied it the 5 years he owned it, only putting on about 20k miles. The interior is in immaculate PERFECT condition, and the paint is new and very shiny. The engine runs fine, doesn't leak oil or smoke, and blows cold AC.

My uncle said if I finance it, he will let it go for $4800.

I think this is a great deal considering he and I know the history of the car. Hopefully, I can get the $3300 loan, in which I will be able to pay off by Jan.

Here is what I plan to do to it in it's first stages of mods:

American Racing 200S Wheels 15x7/15x8...225/60 and 275/50 tires.

Subframe Connectors and Strut Tower Brace
__
Forced Air Induction Kit w/ Underdrive Pulleys
__
Flowmaster 40 series mufflers


Sound like a good plan? Please reccomend some good brands for suspension parts.

One last question: Where the cheapest place to get the 5-lug conversion kit?

The cheapest place to find a five lug conversion is ebay or the junkyard. The fronts are easy, just some new rotors and some minor brake mods, if your staying with drum brakes the rear axles will be pretty easy to find, but if your going threw the trouble you should upgrade the brakes also. go here: http://www.svo73mm.cjb.net/ or here http://home.pacbell.net/black306/tech/reardisc.html for details.

Sounds like you have a good plan, welcome to the board!

275 for rear tires is going to be too big, unless you want to mod your wheel wells, it can be done with some work. It's just easier to fit smaller tires though. On my 89 Gt I had 245's all the way around on 17x9 Cobra R's, and they looked great, & wide too. By the way I'm Justin also. ;)

My dad's friend Joe has an 89 LX hatchback and had 15x8 4-lug ROH wheels on the back with 295/50s and they fit. They rubbed the inside when he turned real hard, but not much. He went down to 275/50 and they don't rub anywhere. As far as I know, he hasn't touched the wheel well.

I had 245's on my GT and they rubbed on the back, just trying to help. :)

Would there be a difference because you were using 17x9s wheels and he is using 15x8s?
