Smile New member and a question

Just want to say I have been a lurker for a while reading this site and posts. Everyone is great and all the information are top notch. Can't say I know too much about cars so reading these forums are helping a lot.

After debating for a while.. I finally got a '89 GT and start my pony project. It needs some TLC, but I see a lot of potential in this puppy. (or should that be pony )

Anyways.. here is my question.. My first project will be replacing the clutch in the car. A couple of people I spoke with sworn by RAM clutches. After doing a bit of research, I am deciding between the POWERGRIP or the 900 series. Am I looking at the right items? Are there better brand out there?

The GT currently is pretty much stock. Has a K&N filter, Flowmaster exhaust. I plan to, with the help of a friend and lots of luck, rebuilt the engine, suspension and eventually supercharge it.

Any input in this will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

I personally prefer the CenterForce dual friction clutch. Easy on the street with a near stock pedal pressure and plenty of bite for the track, even with your future supercharger.

You will need a new clutch cable and quadrant with any aftermarket heavy duty clutch as the stock quadrant will not be able to with stand the load. Aftermarket quadrants are manually adjustable which allows you to select pedal engagement. The down side is you have to adjust it occasionally, where as the stock quadrant is self adjusting.

Good luck and have fun!

Go with the Centerforce Dual Friction, that'll be WAY more than enough clutch for ya. They have the Centerfore 1(holds 30% more that stock), Centerforce 2(holds 60% more), and I believe the Dual Friction holds 90% more). Well I went with the Centerforce 2(I had to have it that day, and the local speed shop had one in stock)and I have dumped the clutch so many times, burnouts, drag racing with slicks, and that clutch has held up like no other. And the DF is stronger than that, so that would be my choice most definately.
