Default New oil pump locked up

I finally got my new motor running by putting the stock injectors and mass air sensor back in and getting the timing set right. I was out driving around and i didn't even get on it and I saw that I didn't have any oil pressure. I pulled the motor back out to find my oil pump locked up and i broke the oil pump shaft. I bought a brand new melling high volume oil and I didn't even put 50 miles on it. Any Ideas?

An oil pump should NEVER be installed without fully disassembling it, checking it out and cleaning it thoroughly. Some will refer to this as 'blue-printing' the pump. You wouldn't believe some of the crap that I've seen in brand new pumps out of the box.

We always disassemble it, clean it and break all sharp edges/burrs, check the action of the bypass valve, check rotor play, cover clearances, etc. Its literally the heart that pumps the life giving blood throughout your engine.

check the action of the bypass valve
Especially this cause if it gets stuck, it could blow the filter off. I have seen this. Ugly site!
