New spark plus have rust on them?

After putting on my new GT-40 heads, I pulled my plugs and noticed they all have a rust look to them, it will wipe of but what is this from? I'm using the Fel-Pro 1101-2 head gaskets. There is no coolant leak, oil looks fine,ect... The heads, plugs, new gaskets, ect... only have about 20 miles on them. The only thing that I did different was run some VP racing fuel, could that cause this? The car runs fine other then that. Everything is dusted in the rust coating including the white porcline peice and electrode. I will post some pictures later to day when I get them. Thanks

That's usually the additives in winter gasoline. Nothing to worry about.

There is no winter gasoline in it. There is was about a quarter of a tank from last summer and I added a 3 gallons of the VP racing fuel, thats the only thing I can think of that would cause this, other then water getting in the cyclinders, but how? Thanks

They look fouled to me (MMT Fouled)
MMT is a anti-knock additive used to replace lead.
If it's running fine, just clean them and re gap them.
What kind of gas do you use?

Duh, now I see what kind of fuel you're using... switch back and see if it clears up after a few tanks and cleanings! http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/smile.gif

Looks like it might be a case of high speed glazing. Since you were using a higher octane gas, it burns hotter and the glazing occurs from higher temperatures on acceleration. Try using colder plugs next time.

That looks nothing like high speed glazing to me. High speed glazing looks like a white powdered coating from burning too hot.

OK, thanks everybody!

Refer to a Chilton book, and it will show you pictures of spark plugs, your plugs look exactly like the mmt fouled ones!! Check it out!
