Post New timing cover dosent fit on 88lx?

My cousin just bought a new timing cover for his 88 lx with a 302. The 2 pins that stick out from the block are alot bigger than the holes that are drilled into the timing cover. Im certian the cover is the right one, says 74-93 5.0&5.8 repoduction. Other than the two pins it looks like it will fit fine. Any ideas? Maybe drill out the holes in the cover, or cut the pins off, defective part? Thanks for any help.

Im not exactly sure, I havent seen it for myself. From what hes describing it sounds like two pins that help align the cover up. Like I said I havent seen it for myself yet so who knows. Could be something else.
