New track times!!!

Went racing yesterday for the 1st time in a year almost and ran a 12.78@103 I havent't made any changes since last year except for a different size PV and re-adjusted the secondary idle screws.
My old time was 12.85@102. Somewhere in those small changes I must have got a little more HP.
This new time was also made in the heat of the day(about 82*) and the old one was made during a cool fall evening. I'm thinking maybe if I go again on a cool night that I could run deeper in the 12.7 range.
My 60' times are between 1.66-1.70

Someone here once suggested that I need a larger cam. I think they're right because my rpms through the traps are about 6000
And yes..oviously, I could use better heads...lol

I think I finally got about all of what I can expect out of this setup. I have a NOS sniper kit that's still new in the box from 2 years ago I've been deciding if I want to put on now or not.....

I want to spray it but there seems to be controversy on how I plan to supply the fuel for the nitrous system.
Once I get the REAL facts, I'll start hooking it up.

Can't you just run a dry kit?

If a "dry" kit is for EFI, then no I can't. I have a carb setup and already have the NOS kit. I just have to put it on.

Re: New track times!!!

Dry means utilizing your own fuel to balance the mixture of Nitrous entering your engine, a wet kit utilizes an alternate fuel line to add to the nitrous. Thinking of it more I'm not sure how carbs work, but the dry kit spikes the Fuel pressure regulator, which is on EFI, so it might not work for you....

Re: New track times!!!

The kit I have uses a spray bar system that mounts between the carb and intake, where the nitrous and fuel is mixed and atomized into the intake.
What I WANT to do is run a fuel line from the other side of my regulator to supply the fuel side instead of having a dedicated fuel system for the nitrous(i.e another fuel pump & fuel line from sump)
I only want run 125 shot at the most and would like to think I could get away with that kind of setup. Other people insist I install another fuel system.

On my 351W my best is 12.61@106 and on 175 shot 11.33@118. I shift at 5100rpm. I need a bigger cam and atleast my heads and intake ported.

Check into Procomp aluminum heads they are about 700 bux brand new. They are made in Austrailia and are very well made and look and flow great. My Dad just bought some for his 383 stroker and we were very pleased.

My Mustang is a street car I'm happy where it's at right now. But later down the road. I'm just going to build a mild 408 with AFR 205. I mean like 5 years down the road.

Procomp is made in Austrailia. They flow as good as trick flows and have CNC'd ports and chambers.

I will have to "strongly" disagree with you.

If you seen a set of these heads you would be very surprised.

Re: New track times!!!

Last time I checked they were made in China. From what I understand, the company was sold to China a few years back and had destroyed the Procomp reputation.
I remember reading countless post over on Fordmuscle about these heads last year. Pictures were even posted with brand new procomp heads showing the obvious poor machinery and craftmanship. I wish I could find the link for some of those post.
The bottom line was that if you had the resources to "fix" these heads then they were a good bargin but they are NOT bolt on heads out of the box.
There is a reason why they are so much cheaper than the other popular name brand heads. You get what you pay for I guess...
If you still don't believe me then go to fordmuscle.com yourself and ask, then tell us what they say, which I already know...unless the company changed hands again within the last year I beg to differ.

You are not understanding. We have purchased examined and installed these heads already, and were happy as could be with the purchase.

My Trickflows looked like junk compared to the Procomp heads.

True story!!;)

Re: New track times!!!

Well then one of the following must have happened then:

1) Procomp did indeed sell the company back to Austrailia.
2) You just were lucky enough to get a good set of heads.
3) The guys on Fordmuscle had nothing better to do than post false information and experiences.

Maybe somone else can chime in here and give us their experience with procomp heads or shed some new information on this situation.

Dark 5.0..I'm not trying to say I dont believe you. I'm just curious as to what events has transpired that you actually got a good set of heads from that place.

I felt like we were rolling the dice to try these heads but we were happy with them.

We have purchased some junk heads in the past from World products, Sportsman II's that needed extensive machine work right out the box.

Re: New track times!!!

Yep, I seen a set of 2.02 iron pro comp do real well on a stock bottom end 5.0 and an f-cam.
Ports were flowing good #'s out of the box, no porting necessary.
