Paxton v Vortech
Summit and jeg's sell a kit by Paxton and one from Vortech for 2000.00 that will suit my needs for my combo below. I'm looking for some advice as to which will better suit my needs. I know that some of you will suggest a 9-11 psi super but 3 grand for a Novi xxxx is out of my league right now. just curious as to which 8psi pumper is better. I'm looking for 450+ horse and I know that's an achievable number.

I'm thinking the Paxton kit for $2000.00 is their ball-drive Paxton's.I myself went and bought the ball-drive Novi GSS blower from Summit 2 yrs ago, haven't had any problems, regrets, etc.
The reason I did go with the ball-drive kit was,I myself wanted to see how well/how fast I could get a Paxton blown car to go and I didn't want to be like every-other-person bolting on a Vortech..I like to be different ya see .. Next time around I will either go with the Paxton Gear-driven blower OR a gear-driven Vortech as the gear-driven blowers turn faster and are more reliable than the ball-drive Paxton kits are. So,anyways, to answer your question,go with the Vortech. ------------------ Paxton Blown 87GT |

Also do some looking around and check out the new Paxton Novi 1000 kit thats just been released for 86-93 stangs. $2000 and can run 12psi or more!
*insert* Ask Summit and Jegs what model of Paxton blowers they carry before you make a choice and post it here,I'm curious about what they carry.. ------------------ Paxton Blown 87GT [This message has been edited by Mustanguy (edited 03-15-2001).] |

Thanks guys!
Will do. I'll ask them tonight or tomarrow and post. By the way....How loud are these supers we're discussing here? Is it annoying or just plain Awesome? I heard some people say their particular supers were so loud the exhaust couldn't be heard ------------------ In-progress Street Legal 351..(So far)Edlebrock Performer RPM head, Upper&Lower Manifold..Crane Gold 1.6 Rollers..BBK 70MM TB..Full Cartech Fuel System..30lb Injectors.. The Paxton blowers as boost climbs, they make a high-pitched whistling noise, but when your idling around town, you can't hear anything abnormal underneath the hood, they are very quiet for the most part.
The Vortech blowers have a very distinct idle. They make a whining noise which can be heard at idle,it's a very nice sound, trust me ------------------ Paxton Blown 87GT |

My engine builder called and suggested we go for a 392/393 stroker kit instead. He said he could get 420+ HP and I could save a little $$ by NOT going with the super. What should I do? Any comments??
