ZEX nitrous system
I was just wondering if anyone out there uses or knows someone that has the ZEX nitrous kit for the 4.6 mustang. I read the article in MM&FF about it and was rather impressed with its simplicity and power output, and was wanting to know how it performs in the real world.

I am getting the Nitrous Express kit installed tomorrow, it's really simple and pretty cheap too.

Sorry to latch on to your post Crumbie... How much does the system cost and who carries it? I read the same article and thought the Zex system sounded perfect for my stocker 96 GT. I am also curious as to how the install goes.
Thanks Stefan ------------------ 66 Standard coupe 200 inline 6 - Pertronix ignition, Flamethrower Coil, K&N, Clifford Perf. 6 into 2 headers(not installed yet), Holley carb, three row radiator 96 GT Convertible K&N (more to come) Where'd my money go? |

To be honest, I can't remember the exact price. I think it was around 500 bucks...
There is a contact number over at www.zex.com |

Thanks Hammer. Would this be something to look into on an unmodded 96 with roughly 57,000 miles on the clock? I would think the low 75 horse shot couldn't hurt too much especially in a well maintained car. The price is definately more appealing than a supercharger (for now...)Mwa haha...
Anyway, I need to get something on my pathetic mods list. (again sorry for invading your post Crumbie - I just figures it was easier than starting a new post since it's basically the same topic. |

Me casa, su casa Stefan....
Hammer: is there anyway we can get some before and after times from you? T-Bone: Not sure which issue it was in, but I'll check. Don't quote me on this, but I think the stock 4.6 they put it on was sending @190 hp to the rear wheels. Not bad for a motor that gets constant bashing. I was quite amazed with that figure alone. After the nitrous was installed, I think it gained @70+ to the REAR wheels. Not bad. I'll run a check on these #'s and let you know which issue it came from. Unfortunately,
I just have the section on the ZEX system, the rest of the magazine was "retired" by my wife. The test for MM&FF used a stock 1997 GT (except for a K&N filter) Stock #s: 190.7 HP (rear wheels) 269 lbs.-ft torque With Zex 75 shot: 259.9 HP (rear wheels) 379.9 lbs.-ft torque = 69.2 HP (rear wheels), 110.9 lbs.ft torque Not too shabby.... I'll try to have some firm numbers my next trip to the track... ------------------ 98 GT Dyno-Max cat-back exhaust, 3.73 gears, Steeda shifter, Ford Motorsport Underdrive pullies, 87mm MAF and Roush cold air kit... |

If anybody is interested the ZEX install article is in the March 2000 MM&FF.
Stefan PS - The K&N isn't cutting it alone so I'm accepting donations to the "Let's Get Stefan Something More Than An Air Filter Fund" Cash and checks accepted ------------------ 66 Standard coupe 200 inline 6 - Pertronix ignition, Flamethrower Coil, K&N, Clifford Perf. 6 into 2 headers(not installed yet), Holley carb, three row radiator 96 GT Convertible K&N (more to come) Where'd my money go? |
