WET Nitrous questions...
I have a wet kit I just installed. Nitrous works 50-175hp adjustable. What I was wondering is how do you know when the bottle is running low. Or what happens. It seems to me that the nitrous would no longer be flowing in proportion to the fuel and it would run super rich...?
What happens? Skyler ------------------ -1989 Saleen Mustang #406- TFS Heads, E-303, edelbrock intake,70MM TB, 73mm MAF, off road H, headers and 3chamber flows. 12.55@107mph 50-175 Nitrous Works WET Kit just added. |

Please tell me you have a pressure gauge with that kit. That's really the best way to tell if the bottle's empty. And it makes tuning your system much easier. But if you like seat-of-the-pants tuning, then yeah, the car would start to run rich due to more fuel/less nitrous and you could start fouling plugs.

Hey Sky, I would say the pressure gauge and the bottle blanket/heater is a must so you can run the consistant combo over and over. So when are you getting it to the track to test the "giggle gas" out How's it feel, what jets are in it.

The pressure gauge will not tell you when your bottle is near empty. A near dry bottle can still read 700 psi. You need to weigh it to accurately tell.
Uusally you will run rich. blow some black smoke and it might break up a bit toward redline. That is what mine does. Dry kit, but the same principles apply. Good luck at the track. FYI, My friend added a bottle warmer to his ZEX kit. He had 700 psi bottle pressure normally and was trapping 108. With the bottle warmer his pressure went up to 1000 psi and his trap speeds raised to 111. |

do you have to tune the car a certain way for the NOS or do you just install it and it works? how do you keep it from running to lean and or to rich? does the computer do something with it???

At low to moderate levels, you don't have to change much. Most manufacturers will tell you to retard the timing 2 degrees for every 50hp, and that's about it. The nitrous/fuel ratio is preset by the jets in the kit, as long as your pressures stay consistent.
Pressure gauges aren't that much, and they're a worthwhile addition. ------------------ Moxie Racing The Nitrous Oxide Information Site |

Although I'm sure you already have, don't forget to kill your factory rev limiter. The last thing you want to do is have the computer shut off the fuel supply with the nitrous on.

I got a window switch that shuts the NOS off at 5900.
