Default MSD users please read

I just bought a MSD digital 6 plus igntion for my car along with a new coil. I also ordered the TFI wiring harness. I wired it all up, heavy red and black to starter soliniod, and the new harness in between the coil. I have checked the settings on the side, and they are all correct. I tried to start my car and it just cranked, after a few seconds white smoke started to come out of the breather and air filter.

I checked all of the plug wires and they were correct. I brought the unit to a local speed shop and it worked fine on the display. I just unplugged the harness now and I am using the stock igntion now.

Do I need a tach adapter or something? Please help, thanks.

Default possibility

I have the exact box and when i wired it up i wired it directly to the battery for the possitive and negative... Are you sure your on constant hot wire. Just to play around i would try connecting it directly to the battery, and triple checking how you wired it in.

May not help but its just an idea.

I have the red thick wire on the starter solenoid, right where my battery cable is connected to. I don't understand what the problem could be. The wiring is idiot proof and the box works according to the tester.

If you had it connected to the wrong side of the selenoid it would do exactally what you said it was doing. It would only have power while it was cranking ... the sec you let off the start switch it would lose power. I'd double check that

It is defenitly connected to the correct side of the soleniod. I am going to give MSD a call tomorow when the tech line is open.

I found out what the problem was. I was going through some wiring diagrams and noticed that the starter solidoid "loses ground" during cranking. So I grounded the MSD to the frame and it works fine now.
