No Hood Latch?

I've gotta new fiberglass hood that is only pinned at the front... the latch really didn't fit right. Are the hoodpins safe on their own? Is there a better set of pins? I have autozone or advance crap on there now

Thanks!

My hood stayed on at 123 MPH with nothing but 4 pins holding it on. Not sure what AZ has, but Mr. Gasket makes a nice "heavy duty" set. :D

just gotta remember to use them, i've seen numerous guys have their hoods pop up on them after forgetting to pin them. It will destroy the hood, cowl panel, windshield, and sometimes the roof. I had an old hood that had pins and I used the stock latch still just as a secondary latch, although it probably wasn't needed. I would however recommend keeping the safety latch (the spring/hook mechanism) though.

Yep!!! The hood on my fairlane is all wrinkled cuz the last owner did that.

The other thing ya gotta watch for, keep an eye on those R clips AT ALL TIMES. Was working on the Stang last year at Fun Ford in Norwalk, and I got in a bad habit of setting the clips on the cowl panel. Fixed the problem, took off down the street for a test run with no hood. When I got back, guess what? No R clips!!! DOH!
