SPEC vs. FRPP
Well, coming home from work yesterday, shifted from 1st to second at 25mph and car just reved, beginning to feel the clutch slip lately at other times as well. I don't want to dump hundreds of dollars into a clutch setup because in 1-2 years in switching over to a TKOII. I would like to go with either the FRPP King Cobra or the SPEC stage I. Both these clutches are under $200 so that's the big selling point. Anybody have input or thoughts one way or the other? ~Brian

I've heard good and bad from the Spec clutches. But also, I've heard their customer service is great, so if something goes wrong, they'll help you out as much as possible.
But I can't speak from personal experience with a Spec clutch. I have the FRPP HD clutch in mine and I love it. I installed it when I did the T5 swap in August of 2001 and have ripped the hell outta the car since then. 20k+ miles, and lots of dumping the clutch on slicks at the track. Its held up suprisingly well for the price I paid. If it were me, I would get a motorsport HD, but thats just me. I am also going to be goin with a tremec in about 2 years, so if my clutch goes within that time, I will definately buy another HD clutch until its time to remove the ole' T5
