Cool Non roller to roller 351 block ?????

This 351 block that I have is not a roller. besides having to drill and tap the holes in the lifter valley, what else do I need to do. Is it as simple as dropping in a set of roller lifters from a 302. Or do I need a special lifter. Also will a normal 302 cam work?

Cool

Jason, Crane cams makes a conversion kit for non-roller blocks so you can use roller cams if you want.If it was me,I would call Crane and get the kit...

The diff in the blocks is that the factory roller blocks have a taller lifter bore for the taller hydr roller lifters. Crane does make retrofit hydr roller cams that have a smaller base circle so that the lifters don't ride as high in the lifter bore. They make a good assortment of cams, many are identical to cams made for roller blocks, and are made for use with a steel distrib gear so no fast gear wear problems. www.cranecams.com But, no, you can't use a "regular" roller block cam in a non-roller block.
