Default Pulled New Codes Today

After fixing Code 63 yesterday I Reset My ECM and received code 11. Systems pass. I was very happy to pass so I drove my 89 5.0 LX Convertible Mustang to work. On the way to work my check engine light came on.

So this after noon I did a KOEO test. I received quite a few new codes. This is the order they came in.

21 ACT out of self test range
67 Neutral Drive Switch circuit open (That is because I have my own switch in the car.)
21 Ect out of self test range
22 Map BP out of Self Test Range. (I do live 8,000 feet above sea level)
35 EVP/PFE circuit above maximum voltage. (I have by passed my smog pump and yes I have pluged all the lines.)
51 ECT Sensor Fault or circuit open
53 TP circuit above maximum voltage
54 ACT or VAT sensor fault; circuit open
96 High Speed Fuel Pump; Relay circuit open
22
35
51
53
54
96

What do you guy think? I think I am going to warm up the car. Reset the ECM and then Drive it again. See what reaccuring codes I am receiving.

Default I Reran KOEO

I let the engine warm up and turned the key off and disconnected the negative cable to the battery. I came back in ten minuetes and took the car for a drive. I drove it for a half an hour. I even brought the car up to ninty miles an hour. I received no check engine light. I then pulled into my driveway and ran a KOEO Test

I received these codes. Here they are in order

67 Neutral Drive Switch (NDS) circuit open; A/C input high
67 Neutral Drive Switch (NDS) circuit open; A/C input high
22 Map/BP [BARO*] out of Self Test Range
34 In sufficient EGR flow/Excessive exhaust back pressure; or EVP above closed limit (sonic) / PFE sensor voltage high or out-of-range
51 ECT sensor fault or open circuit
53 TP circuit above maximum voltage
54 ACT [IAT*] or VAT sensor fault, circuit open
22 Map/BP [BARO] out of Self Test Range
34 In sufficient EGR flow/Excessive exhaust back pressure; or EVP above closed limit (sonic) / PFE Sensor voltage high or out-of-range
51 ECT sensor faut of open circuit

I think I am going to check out the ECT sensor and check for OHMs in the wiring harness.

Wow. It definitely looks like you have something wrong in the wiring. Hopefully PKRWUD will give you a hand with this one. Weren't you recently fixing stuff with the wiring harness connected to the ECM?

Default Pin 47

The wiring harness wire that goes into pin 47 came loose from the connector. It was a green wire which goes to the TP sensor. I put a little super glue so that it makes a good connection with the ECM.

Sorry, we were racing this weekend, and I haven't been around much.

Man, that is what is the absolute hardest about online diagnostics. It's difficult when you can't be there to see/hear/inspect things for yourself, but when it's something like that, it can create major headaches for weeks.

I would thoroughly inspect all of the pins, just to be safe, if you haven't already. Reset the ECM again (for a quicker reset, turn on the headlight switch after disconnecting the neg battery post. This will drain the capacitors right away. Turn the switch off, and reconnect the battery), warm up the engine, and then run KOEO self test again. Post your results.

Default just a couple of questions

Would it be easier to just replace the harness? SVO has a harness for 210 dollars. It might save problems later down the road.

I am trying use a strategy when going through the electrical problems. I thought I would try to go through the harness connector side of the ecm and make sure that all the wires match the pins they are suppose to go.

For instance I received code 22, which is MAP/BP [BARO*] out of Self Test Range. I would go to the Map Sensor, which uses Pin wires 46, 45 and 26. I would find out what the color of the wires are and make sure they have good connections. Then I would make sure they are in their correct pin holes. I thought that I would check resistance also. I thought that I would post my results

How do you feel about Dielectric grease?

Dielectric grease is great for spark plug wires, heat sinks, tfi modules, and rotors.

If you're up for it, go ahead and replace the harness. if one pin was damaged, who knows how the rest of the harness is. I'm always up for replacing bad parts with new ones. I just don't like throwing new parts at the problem in hopes that they will fix it. Half the time, you end up replacing perfectly good parts. Since we already know of at least one failure in the harness, go for it.

Default t5 swap

What kind of harness should I get because I have a manual t-5 computer? I had a mustang shop do the wiring for me. I assume a manual engine harness.

I think I should by the new harness because all of the codes that I am getting I have already replaced the the sensors.

I am going to order one tommorrow. How bad of a job is it? I noticed that it is petty hard to put the injectors that are closest to the fire wall. The harness I am ordering comes with directions. What kind of time should I allow my self to do a real detailed job.
