Default Off the mustang topic but wanted to get your opinion

Will anyone agree with me in saying that the old air cooled vw motor was one of the toughest motors made and cheapest to build, like say for baja and rail buggys. Me and a buddy were arguing over whether or not this motor was strong and reliable. From my expeirence with them they are pretty hard to tear up. I know its off the topic but just wanted to see what yall thought about the old german vw motor. HEY AT LEAST THIS FOUR CYLINDER IS NOT FROM JAPAN, LOL
