My friend has a 89 vert and has had his mac mufflers for only about a year, he said they are rusted really bad and doesnt know what to do, anybody have a proper course of action??? I told him to get flowmaster's like mine, im under my car at least once a month and have yet to see any rust, just some discoloration.

What else would he want to do besides getting new mufflers? IF they're rusted real bad, chuck 'em in a dumpster and get some new ones.

I agree. Just tell him to get rid of them and buy some new ones.

$2.99 Autozone spray paint will take care of your problem for a few weeks.........j/k...I cannot believe that the mac's rusted that quick..do you mean a little surface rust or holes in them??? If its just surface rust who the hell cares, unless you drive on mirrored roads...
