If they're FMS gears the ratio is marked on the head of the pinion. Of course this would involve taking the cover off the diff and draining and re-filling, but its worth a try!

BTW: Another method is to count the ring gear teeth and divide this number by the number of pinion gear teeth. This is the most cut-and-dry foolproof method I can think of.
