oil pressure low at idle?
only when its been running a while, on cold startup, its high and healthy? any thoughts? the sender is about a yr old, and goes down to halfway mark at idle, until i hit the gas, usually it was one notch above the halfway on the stock guage, now when warm its a lil lower, should i be worried?

Sounds normal for an engine with 75k+ on it. Still junk the factory sender and gauge.
Take care, -Chris

Mine did that for years then someone suggested a heavier weight and it works like a charm to bring the pressure up a bit.
although my pressure was realllly low!

Thanx guys, but i figured it out, i changed oil today, (and went heavier weight) but noticed my oil cooler was loose, i mean the nut in the middle, that hold it on, was backed almost all the way out, i dont know how it didnt leak? but i tightened that, and now, even with a hot engine at idle, it stays above halfway on the factory crap guage, heh, im going for some aftermarket guages soon i hope.....thnx again, just getting worried with this many miles, and im still revving her pretty high, love these cars!! are real tough, as long as you stay uunder 350 hp, they last forever!

OH, and also, i changed back to a fl1a, from a pure one, so far this has been the best filter to use, motorcraft.

You know those pure one filters and the fram filters are the biggest piece of **** IMO. I put a fram on a plymouth acclaim with a 4 banger in it, and it had about 1/4 of the gauge less oil press less than it had before I changed the oil! And the same thing happened when I put a pure one on it. I put a Delco filter on it and it was fine. Them sob's have so much paper in them, that you lose oil pressure. So I would say that putting that FL1-A helped you a lot.

Before I started screwing the the engine, I took my car to have the oil changed. I was talked into 5w30 because it was supposed to give me better performance.. the pressure got soooo low at idle that I changed back to 10w40 a day or 2 later.
