![]() I'm in the process of installing my timing chain & gears and the book mentions an "oil slinger" that goes in front of the crank sprocket. I don't recall taking one off when I tore the engine down. Where can I get one so I can install the timing cover?

![]() I was thining about that too but I want to be positive I don't need one.
The problem is that I don't remember seeing one when I took everything apart(which doesn't mean there wasn't one). If there was one and I lost it somewhow then I'm going to wonder where the hell it's at. If there wasn't one then I won't worry about it and bolt the cover on. I just need to find out for sure if there was one on there to begin with and I lost it. I have too much money into this now and I don't want to "roll the dice and hope for the best" "Oil slinger" sounds important...doesn't it?

![]() what book is it? lol. Well I just did my timming chain on my 302 and the harmonic balancer buts up against the lower sprocket when the motor is back together, so there is no room for a oil slinger.
Theres nothing in my Ford Factory service manual about a oil slinger. Your motor is a 351 though? Im not sure about those.\ Good Luck. |

I'm really anxious to hear how your setup performs because its very close to what i'm putting together. Same exact cam, but i went with some longer rods (6.25") with a stroker 372 CU IN ... also a set of Roush 200's and i think i'm going with a Victor single plane intake. The big atvantage i'll have is its going in a 64 Falcon that weighs in at less than 3,000 lbs. Let me know how it runs and idles and such !!! If you run into any issues, i'll still have some time to send stuff back ![]() |

![]() I'll check the publish date on the book. It isn't that old because I bought it from Summit about 2 months ago.
It will be a few months before the engine gets fired up but I'll let you know for sure.
