Post Oil and Water....

Why does it look like the oil level has risen? almost looks like there is coolant in the oil, but no bubbles, smoke, and not milky. Mechanic told me the system held pressure for a few hours, they left the "machine" hooked up and no leaks were found. Is this a bad head gasket?

The engine definitely FEELS warmer, but it does not overheat or anything. The stock gauge (NORMAL) is around the "OR" with a 180* thermostst. I don't 'seem' to be loosing coolant. On the oil dipstick, it looks like the fluid level is about an inch? over the full hot mark. I change the oil and know I left it just under the full notch. Is this a head gasket going?

yes it sounds like a head gasket, mine did the same thing, what i'd do is let it sit for a day or so, then take out one of your oil drain plugs, if theres coolant in there, thats what will run out first, (letting it sit will let the oil and coolant separate) when mine went bad i pulled the plug and about 4 quarts of coolant came out before i saw any oil at all, needless to say i was shocked, and pissed at the same time, try this and let us know

The oil needs to be changed anyway, car is in the shop now so have to wait to get it back. How long do I have before I get the milky oil/smoke/etc - MAJOR problems? it may be a week or two before I can do (financially) anything with the engine.

So if it turns out to be the gasket, how bad is the change? It looks pretty straight forward, but having never done one...Can I do it for a hundred bucks (or ext. warranty will + $100 deductible)?

Man, if these problems keep up, I may not be able to DRIVE to the poor house, and will have to hitchhike!
