opinions on cowl hoods

What size rise does everybody think looks the best on the 87-93' cowl induction style hood for a street/strip car. 1.5", 2", 2.5", 3", or 4"?

I recently bought a 4" at a race/show, but when I got it home and put it on the car, it looks to big. I think Im going to try to exchange it for a 3".

I personally like the 2.5", but to each his own.

I've been doing research on what type of cowl hood I want myself for my 87GT and am thinking that the 4" is abit big also. I'm leaning towards either a 2.5" OR 3" cowl hood.

I love my 4" Cowl and it also gave me the clearance to run my Holley upper with a 1" spacer. The intake sits about 2-3/4"-3" up in the cowl at the highest point. Plus I may go with a 408ci in the future and this will allow me o fit it all under the hood. Check my site out for a picture

My 4" actually measures more like 5", so u have to be careful. I think they measure it from the top of the cowl grate to the tip of the hood. Thanks for the pics and opinions. anybody else?

I have the 2.5" stormin' Normin' ram air, but i think it's high enough!! Here's a pic showing you a different perspective of 2.5"

Coolness...The company I got the hood from has 2", 3" and 4". I like the 2.5" from the pics and the 3". I think that maybe 2" is to small, so I think I'll go with the three inch. From your friends 3" pic, I dont think any bigger than that looks real good on a street car.

I like the 3 inch as well.

I have a 4 inch Cobra RR on my 94, but it doesn't look as big because of the double hump design. I like 4 inch hoods also, but 3 is more reasonable

Is it a good idea to have a cowl induction hood on a car that see's the outdoor elements on a daily basis? Will leaves or water fall into the engine compartment? Just wondering because I'm thinking of the same hood on my 67'

The 4" hood I have (I got it from Mustang Part Specialties) is a lot bigger than the cervinis 4". Go figure? I guess theres not a standard way to measure them. The 4" cervini doesnt look bad, but mine looks to be about a good 1 inch taller then the one in the picture.

Has anyone seen a stock style fiberglass hood? I'd like to kind of keep a somewhat sleeper look but would like the weight savings of fiberglass. I have not run across anyone who makes one.

I have seent hese advertised before I think Cincinnati Composites has them, but I have not heard ggod things about them.

TO ALL WHO ARE LOOKING FOR FIBERGLASS HOODS Make sure you fo to a good company so you get a product that will look good, fit good and will last. I personally have a Cervinis which I am very happy with I also suggest HO Fibertrends and Harwood, they also make good quality products. If anybody is in the PA area and can make it to ALl Ford Carlise JUNE 1st-3rd the Cervini's hoods are usually on a show special I got my 4" for $300, instead of $350.00 plus shipping, get there on Friday or Saturday morning if you want one.
