Out of the game too long...need to find a new engine
As some of you might remember I spent a ton of time here about 3 years ago or so. Well...due to tough financial crap and some family issues I was forced to put the Mustang in storage. Now it's ready to come back out but the motor's shot (along with the transmission, some suspension stuff, rear end, tires, etc.). I've never bought a new motor...just modded the P.O.S stock '84 motor with a bunch of stuff a few years ago. I plan an EFI swap but have no idea who makes a good motor that's slightly on the cheap side (I know...the words "good" and "cheap" don't always mix, but here's to hoping). I'm looking to spend around $4000 or so on a longblock that'll make around 400hp or so. I know Central Coast Mustang makes a 327/342 longblock that they advertise at 450hp for around $3800 but I've heard some varied things about them. Wynnespeed also seems to have a good deal on a 331 but no hp estimates and I don't know much about them since they were just barely starting up when I put the Mustang in the garage. I'd like to hear what you guys/gals think or offer alternative companies/solutions (although I'd kind of like to steer clear of classified ads...you can't ever tell what kind of work's been done).
