Question Know any place that makes cheaper aftermarket seats?

I'm looking for a set of lightweight, supportive, and nice looking aftermarket seats for my 91 vert. I'm trying to shave weight off and I wouldn't mind a little interior face-lift, so I figured seats are the way to go. But man, $400+ per seat!!! Just wondering if I'm looking in the wrong places (Cobra, Recaro, Corbeau...)

1991 LX 5.0 Convertible:
AOD w/ shift kit, 3-piece Steeda chassis stiffening kit, 4-pt. roll-bar, 3.73s, K&N, MAC shorties and cat-backs, bad-ass Firestone SZ50EP tires (225/55 16). Underdrive pullies and white face guages coming.

I've been looking for seats myself, but like you mentioned all of the nice looking, adjustable, comfortable seats are like $400+ dollars. Good luck and keep us posted if you find anything.

By the way, your list of mods is excellent, that's exactly the direction i'm going (a little different because my car is lacking more in some areas -7.5" rear needs to leave- and i'm carbed, but it's coming along).

If your interested in the Corbeau's I may be getting a group buy going with some friends - right now I think I can get $50/per seat discount off listed price.

Okay, you've got me. What exactly is a group purchase and how/why do they get cheaper prices? I hear about them constantly but I never actually checked one out. Sounds interesting.

Yeah, a Corbeau group purchase sounds good. I'm looking at either the Targa RS or GTSII styles (both $320 a piece). That's not too bad if they can be had for $100 off ($50 per seat).

Keep me informed about a group purchase too. I'm looking to get two. I'm redoing the whole interior this winter on my car and want to get new front seats, take out the back seats, and redo carpet, liner, and all the seals on the doors and t-tops. Let me know! Thanks!

My email starts with a "j", not an i. Those damn brackets make it look wrong.

work got busy so I didn't get to check the list until now - I'll email everyone interested the details of the group purchase in a day or two - still figuring out how we'll have to handle the shipping... If you want you can also drop me a line at injectedEB@saunders2000.com

Cool

If your group purchase does not work out you should try looking on ebay. I have won many auctions on e-bay and have saved a lot of money...GOOD LUCK..

Update on the group purchase - it turns out that Corbeau only sells to distributors and not the public - so my wife got her retail liscence and the group purchase is on - pricing can be seen at http://www.saunders2000.com/HBS/group.htm
