yes underdrives are a very good gain for the money, the air silencer is inside the passenger side fender behind the air cleaner, it is supposed to quiet the incoming air but i didnt notice any difference when i took mine out, just take off the air cleaner assembly and there should be about 3 screws hodling it in there, remove those and pull the silencer out through the bottom, you will also want to advance your timing to about 14 degrees or so, the exhaust system is also very restrictive in these things, get an offroad h-pipe (little over $100) and you'll feel a noticable gain, then do the rest of the exhaust as money permits,

------------------
88 Notchback 5.0, 3.73's, Explorer intake, pulleys, Crane 1.7's, BBK headers, off-road H-pipe, flowmasters, subframe connectors, 65mm TB, shift kit, March ram air kit, motorsport wires, MSD coil, upper and lower control arms, 155lph fuel pump, cheap 2800 stall, Crane Adj.FPR, best time- 13.99@99.75, not yet tested times after rocker and intake install

If you have to pass emmissions, get a high flow cat H-pipe instead of the offroad, it'll give you more torque regardless. The first thing you should do is take out the air silencer though. Then get some better gears, 3.55 or 3.73, and underdrive pulleys.

The first thing that we should have asked: How fast do you want to spend? In other words, would you be up for putting a few $1000 (er whatever the equivelant is in the Home Country) into your motor and then another 1k in your tranny to support that? Or are you looking for simpler things? The people here can help you plan out whatever you want. :-)

hey heres one that always gets over looked. switch to an electric fan set up. the loss of the drag from the fan on the crank can be good for an easy 10 hp on relatively stock car. flax-a-lite makes a kit for specifically for the mustang...has a pricetag of just under $200 from summit

I don't know for sure where the EGR coolant line is but I do know where the smog pump is.
If you are looking at the engine from outside the car, the smog pump is located under the alternator. Not directly under but you know what I mean.
Or this: Locate the water pump, alternator, and power steering pump and the crankshaft pully and whatever is left is the smog pump.

The lines that are described above are on the EGR spacer which is right between the throttle body and upper intake. You will se two rubber lines going into each side of it. Remove the lines, get a connector, and connect the 2 lines together. Now there will be no hot coolant flowing through the EGR which will result in a cooler intake charge.
The electric fan is not worth as much as you think from what I've hear. It only has negative effects below 3000rpm's, above that the clutches release and the fan free wheels without drag on the motor. At the strip your RPM's shouldn't fall this low anyway, so you won't see much if anything at all at the strip- but this is just what I've been told, I may be wrong. I do believe that an electric fan is still a good idea anyway. If you get one and plan on running at the strip, I would also hook it up so that it could be turned on while the motor is off- this will draw cool air through the radiator cooling the fluid in it, plus it will blow air over the motor. This will benefit you at thr track.
JFYI- Pulleys, 14* timing, offroad X pipe, mufflers, HD clutch, and 3.73's knocked 7 tenths from my ET and I gained 4.89mph on street tires.

------------------
95 GT convt' 5 speed, 3.73's,FMS HD clutch, Pro 5.0 shifter, ASP alum. underdrive pulleys, Bassani offroad X pipe, 2 chmbr flowmasters, K&N w/o silencer, edelbrock performer intake, FRPP 65mm T-body, FRPP shorty headers, FRPP aluminum driveshaft.Hooker 4pt chrome car bar, Xenon/Wings West ground effects, custom interior
Best ET: 13.83
Best MPH: 98.55mph with Best 60': 1.91 on Nitto DR's
