Question People with cold air induction, how do you like it?

I was thinking of installing a Mac cold air induction. What is it worth in the 1/4, et and mph? Also, what fuel pressure regulator do you recommend?

I have the moroso cold air induction and would recommend it. I tried the BBK kit (identical to the MAC) and it was a piece of crap and didnt fit very well. The top tube hit the strut tower brace for one.

I wouldnt count on much ET gains from this mod alone.

I use the crane FPR and it has been trouble free so far, and is inexpensive.

hey mach 1
dont ever compare bbk to MAC..they may be simular but MAC is far superior and cheaper..i would prolly go with the morroso just becuz it is plastic and the tubing wont absorb any heat

Thanks for the replies guys. But I would like to hear more about possible gains in hp, and what kind of fuel pressure regulator to run? I have a crane adjustable now, but it is old and I suspect it is bad (it is like 4-5 years old). I would buy another one of these because of the price, but I would like to hear some more please.

Your not going to pick up all that much hp from this mod alone. It's the same with any mod you do. Results will vary. Some people can pull off 15 hp with underdrive pullies while most pick up 5-10 or maybe even less.

How much horspower you gain depends on how much your setup needs the mod. You can pick up 50 hp with a TB if you have a built 347 stroker with full exhaust and intake and change from a stock TB to a 75mm TB.

It really comes down to how bad you need it. My guess on horspower gains seeing as how I don't know what your current setup is would put it maybe somewhere around 5-7 hp if that's the only change you make. However, the mod will augment changes you make further on down the road.

Ok pay attention, i have the mac fenderwell, it looks nice and sounds cool, my motor stock, was running 14.6, i went to an electric fan and dropped to 14.4, shortly after got the mac cold air and now i run 14.20, of course the weather was awesome when i ran my best time.

So it may, or may not gain, but id expect a gain on mph.

Best mph 97.80

I'd agree on that. The smoother flow of air could pick you up a mph or two.

I don't have EFI, but I think it helps. It gives you piece of mind knowing that you are getting the coolest air possible.

I have talked to fuelee guys. They say about .2 tenths.

Me I got .7 between ram air and going from SROD(4spOD) to Tremec 3550.

I put the stock air box back on mine after trying the BBK kit. I agree with what has already been posted, the BBK is a piece of junk. I didn't notice much difference in HP, of course my car is all stock.

If you already have a K&N filter then adding a cold air kit isn't going to do much to free up extra HP. Most people install the cold air kits for looks and it helps to clean up the engine bay.

I have yet to hear anyone say they had a bad fit with a MAC cold air kit. If you are looking to buy a MAC cold air kit give me an email and I can get you some good prices on one.

I agree with MACH 1...the BBK kit is a piece of crap. But then again, I think the money is well spent someplace else. Just take out the air silencer and put the money towards something like roller rockers that really gives you a difference. I think the only difference with cold air induction is purely psycological.

Daily driver: 89 notch with 200K plus, BBK shorties,offroad,2-chamber flowmasters with dumps, cut and welded stock shifter...and it runs like a champ.

i have the bbk pipe and i will just give u my 2 cents on it. it looks real good once installed under the hood but the installation is kind of hard and your really not going to get that much horsepower out of it i had to do over again i would have gone with either the moroso kit or the anderson power pipe.good luck with whatever u do.

I agree with Axeman, if the restriction in the air getting to your engine is not in your inlet or filter, you are not going to see any real gain in power. I believe that the polished inlet pipes are more of a dress up piece than a performance piece. I have the BBK fenderwell kit on my car and I replaced my old March ram air with it. I don't think that I would say that it is a piece of crap. The only thing that I had to do was trim the pipe to get it to fit the way that I wanted it to. Overall I am happy with the way it looks and this is all that I expected from it. Here is a picture of it installed in my car.

Best time so far = 60'=2.021, 1/8=8.366 at 86.37 mph and the 1/4 was 12.926 at 108.44 mph.
