1" Phenolic Spacer for GT-40 Intake (no EGR) - Where can I get one?
I need a phenolic spacer for my GT-40 intake to clear some Ford Racing valve covers. I would like to find one that doesn't have the EGR port cut into it. Anyone know where I can find one?
Thanks. ------------------ Too much to list. Best ET on the car so far with stock 2.73 gears - 13.73@102mph Indiana Stangers Association Buy your parts here ICQ# 42269241 |

Kevin- I think they all are going to come with the EGR port in them, but you may be able to fill it with a epoxy to block it off or mkae one from a piece of phenolic using the gasket as a template. Trick Flow makes a lot of spacers call them. Any new news on the car?

I have a spacer that I can give you. It did come with the port blocked but I drilled it out. You can refill it with a heat resistant epoxy, though, as suggested. If you want a new one, I got mine from FRPP.
Do you just want to use those valve covers or are you using them because of rocker arm issues? If it's the later, may I suggest that you get TFS valve covers. They clear roller rockers. ------------------ 351W 89 Mustang GT Convertible |

I am getting the valve covers because they look so darn good Have you guys seen the new Ford valve covers? They don't say Ford Motorsport on them anymore. They say Ford Racing and it matches the color I used for my heads perfectly.
Rick, the car's still screwed. We're going to pull the front cover. Mainly to fix a leak, but we'll check the cam timing while we're in there. Also, we're going to check the lifter pre-load and see if the rockers aren't holding the valves open just a little. Other than that I'm done. If this doesn't fix it I'm just going to drive it til she pukes and fix up a bored out wicked @ss 351 in the meantime! Jim - I'll take it! I'll send you some cash for shipping if you can get it here ASAP. I'll email you. And thanks!! ------------------ Too much to list. What did you set the lifter pre-load at? If the valves are too tight, its been my experience that the engine will idle high. Just a thought. Good luck.

If the valves are too tight it will pop and sound bad, but it will also not feel good and not rev very quickly as most of your power goes out the exhaust. Good Luck, and let me know how it works out, those new FRP covers look very nice, I like them as weel but I want a set of nice sheet metal pieces.

We figured out how to adjust them I think, but I have a friend who has more experience with stuff like this who is going to check them for me. We'll figure it out this weekend or I'm finished, and like I said I'll just drive it and fix up a 351
