Default letter from Ford

not sure about your question, But Ford did send a letter to all car owners with TFI's about a major lawsuit settlement. I still havent read mine, but, maybe they're replacing them

Default TFI inquiry...

I got mine in the mail too. It is just an inquiry and you are reqquested to submit some form of proof that you have repaired/replaced your TFI module. It looks like it will be the basis for a class action suit, not an immediate refund.

Lightbulb TFI

Relocating the TFI would be a hassle but it's possible.

I received a notice from Ford that they we're settling the lawsuit by agreeing to extend the factory warrantee to 100,000 miles on all affected Fords (including Mustangs).

Too late for me, I have 115,000!

The notice said that if you've replaced the TFI module at less than 100,000 miles, to send documentation (even if you were towed or had it replaced at a shop) and they would reimburse you for all costs. You have to agree to have your car inspected at a dealership - at Ford's option.

I replace mine (with a factory replacement) as a precaution, back in '99. I don't have a receipt but they can check it out physically at a dealer, as long as I get my money back.

I urge anyone who got this notice to fill it out and take advantage of the deal, for what it's worth.

A factory warrantee extension is a good deal and even getting your money back if you replaced the TFI already (as I have) is not too shabby - and better than any vehicle manufacturer usually gives any owner. Take it.

Relocating the TFI module is as difficult as changing the wiring harness. If that's tough for you to do, than it's a tough job. If you're good at wiring, it's a piece of cake. My '95 F-150 has the TFI module mounted by the drivers side hood hinge. It came factory that way.

Take care,
-Chris

I don't even get the whole thing...got one of the notices in the mail for my Continental but its never been replaced...its only at 44k miles...anyhow i know that the module can go bad but so can anything else relating to your ignition. I don't understand whats the big deal.
