Post play in the rearend?

How much play should I have side to side in my rearend? I was doing my brakes the other day and noticed when pulling the drums off that there was quite a bit of play from side to side (pushing and pulling on drum).

I'm hearing clunking sometimes from the rearend, could this be it?

thanks

Should be around a 1/4". Thats normal. Thats the gap between the C-Clips hitting the differential and the drum hitting the axle housing.
