Post Very fast Viper...

Well I pulled up next to a viper at a light the other day. We both had a car infront of us. Before the light changes, he starts throwing a couple revs at me, but not even looking over. His plate said "1BADVPR" and it looked nice! It was a new GTS. So we got going and I was right at my best (2nd gear at 4000rpm) and I hit it and then he did. His car wound up and it was SOOO LOUD! My passenger had to grab his ears!
The only thing I can compare it to is a jet engine revving up, but super fast. It was so LOUD! I felt like I was sitting still, he instantly started pulling by me! We did it again with the same result.

We really didnt get to get going very fast or very far because of traffic so that was diappointing. I was wondering how it would have turned out then. I know I would have been destoryed, but it was hard to get a feel cuz we had to stop so quickly.

Time for a 125shot....atleast!

Thos vipers are amazing, I pulled up next to a red coupe one day and the liscence plate said VEMNOUS or something. It was a kid i knew driving it (found out it was his dads). We ran them for through a couple of gears and i felt like rice, he just flew by me. I asked him later and he said that it had "600 HP" but this kid is a f*cking idiot so i dunno.

From the sound of it that 125 shot might not be enough.

Yeah, vipers are nuts. Ive never run one, but my friend's girl's dad has one, and when I saw it I asked, what have you done to it. He says, "just some exhaust work, and the stroked motor's internals are a little beefed up. Ive got a 2 stage nitrous kit in there which puts out a 300 shot." I said, "damn, what do you run? Low 11's?"

He says, "more like high 9's!"

So if you see a blue viper with white racing stripes in the Fairfield area, stay the **** away!!!

I saw a guy with a Viper GTS with an exhaust, 1.7 rockers, and some tuning. He runs a high 11 on slicks.

Stock Viper's are very do-able. They're fast but nothing high 12's can't handle. Once they start getting modded-out, it's unfair (like us picking on a slightly modded ricer)....they're starting out with 2 more cylinders and 200 more HP. How can you really compare a V8 to a V10? (their also quite a bit more $$$$$$$$$$$$ too.) If we put that extra $$$ into our cars they'd be standing still. Thank God we don't see more of them out there.

everytime i run into a viper he thinks the rodes are for road racing wich i know they handle good, but they always run from me, they like to play cat and mouse here in texas, i would like to just say it better run 80,000 + or whatever they cost. i will stick to my stang its alot cheaper sometimes.

Look at the latest MotorTrend.

Viper Venom 800 ... twin turbo, 6lb of pressure = 830HP and 903ft/lbs of torque!!!!!!!!!!

This thing is insane. Ran at the track a no sweat 10.47... HOLY DOG DOO!!!!

Henessey says if you increase the boost to 10lbs and get another fuel pump, 1000hp is easy to get!!!!!!!

I could twin-turbo my stang and go over a 1000 HP........add all the necessary mods and smoke the Venom 800 for a 1/4 of the price.

Question

Why was this Viper so loud? Did this owner upgrade his exhaust? The few Vipers running around here all sound like UPS trucks!

Hey sky, i know exactly what you're talking about when you say how load that viper is. There's a modded one that has at least exhaust around here and one time at my old work i was working outside (right next to an intersection) and a viper decided to give it some gas....IT WAS HARD TO BREATHE!!! I could feel the exhaust reverberate in my chest because it was sooooo deep. Just about the weirdest experience that i've had!

bada$$lx, don't go there. I could be the prime minister of Canada, and be much better... yakyakyak.

FACT there are no other production vehicle street legal that produce this amount of power. A McLaren F1 would have a hard time against it... I mean which "production" street legal vehicle generate 830HP!!!!! Just read the article, i'm sure you will agree once your done reading.

Bada$$lx....I agree with your comparisons, but instead of beating everyones opinion, why don't you say something to compliment the other car? That is what gives all the GM guys bad raps. I respect every other car out there. Sure, if I up my boost I can be faster that John Doe over there that has a 10 sec Vette, but there is ALWAYS someone faster. I mean seriously though, what fun would it be if your car destroyed every car on the street? That would be like a stock 5.0 racing a van. Half of the fun is not knowing if you are going to win or not IMHO.

The first thing the Viper shops do is exhaust. I think its the best bang for the buck mod. N2O is usually next. They had one at TNT Motosports here in Houston that had just dynoed 600 on the motor and 900 with the juice. That's just wicked.

A friend of me have a viper R/T 10 -94? and he run at the strip. With bad tires 13,000! The thing this car needs is a new rear gear. The viperowner asked a shop for some motorwork...and after he heard the price he now also own a Chevy Nova with a 400 smallblock and rpm alu heads and some more. And this is for 1/4 of the price for some motorwork on the viper.

GT -87, *Hurst shifter,
*Mac shorty 1 5/8, *H-pipes, *3,55 FM gear, This
14,61 and 95,59mph
*the 1/4 times is before this mods.

The Lingenfelter TT would wax that snake. The 383 Lingenfelters run 450 hp and 12.20's@118 on street tires(MT test)

The TT has about 650 hp i think and ran like an 11.3@125-130 I think can't remember exactly.

The fastest viper(not including the Hennessey's) run about like the Lingenfelter 383.

I'd gah-ron-tee if you got a intake, cammed, headed 5.0 with atleast a 6psi (even a powerdyne) you'd give that viper a run for his money. IMO

Man, I wish I didn't live in the 'burbs. Don't see too many Vipers around here, and the one that I thru a rev to 3 years ago was older than my dad and didn't even look over and try! I'd like to at least try to take a stock Diaper, I mean Viper.
