Please read!...need torgue numbers for arp studs

I am putting in a new head gasket and need to know how much to torque ARP studs. Sequence?? What do I need to put on the studs when putting them in??...30wt oil?? Never done this before so any help would be muchly appreciated. Thank you!

Do I put a sealer on the lower half of the stud(that goes into the block) and then use 30 wt on the upper half of the stud??

1) Chase the threads in the block.

2) Apply thread sealer to the threads on the studs going into the block.

3) Screw the studs in HAND TIGHT (very important that the threads in the block were chased/tapped first).

4) Place the nuts and washers in a cup with motor oil.

5) Install the gasket.

6) Install the head.

7) Install the washers and nuts.

8) Torque them, starting in the middle, and working back and forth in a bow-tie pattern, to 25lbs./50lbs./71lbs. in 3 steps (do all to 25lbs., then do them again to 50lbs., then do them again to 71lbs.)

Take care,
~Chris

Thanks for the info.! Is it true that the upper ones should be torqued 10 more than the lower ones?

No. Where did you hear that?
