Nitrous ????? Plug and timing settings?????
See my sig below, Mostly stock which plugs should I be using in my 86 GT. Right now I have Autolite 2545's in it, which is what the local parts store says is called for it. Is that the correct plug for my stock setup. Have the gap set at .050". Also I'm installing a NX system this week. Which plugs should I use with it? and what about timing? I plan on starting with a 100 shot then a 150 shot. Also right now I'm at 37psi(vacuum off) on my AFPR, NX says their system is set up for 40psi. Should I turn it up at first then read plugs and go from there? Sorry so many questions. You guys are great!!!

Well how odd is this post to me, lol. Dude, I am doing the same exact thing with the same exact stuff right now. My plans are to use what I have, only backing down the gap a bit, with a 100 shot and then go from there. When I step up to the 150+ shot, I will probably back off to a 2544 plug(colder) and reduce the gap to .035. With the stock 86 heads though, I am not expecting too much. I should be testing this stuff Thursday night at the track. If you want, I will let you know how it works out.

I am running a 24 plug gapped at .035. I started out with my timing at 8 degrees and I'm running it at 9 now. The rule of thumb i believe is to take out 2 degrees for every 50hp of N20 you're running. I like to keep my car on the safe side so I just leave it where it is. Make sure you get a new fuel pump too. I'm running a 190lph, and I set my fuel to about 45psi. It's a bit rich, but it's not gonna blow up. The plugs always look perfect, so I'm assuming it's probably where it should be. Hope this helped.

Thanks guys I thought from talking to other people I knew what to do, but I just wanted to be sure. I didn't know whether to go down 1 or 2 numbers colder on the plugs. I think I will put my FP on about 40 and my timing on 10 deg.
Yes let me know how you do at the track. Thanks John ------------------ John Welch 86 GT, 3.73's, H-pipe w/ 2-chamber Flows, No smog pump or A/C, crank pulley, K&N in stock box, adj. FPR, bypassed EGR(coolant) Best Run 14.34 @100.0 MPH (on G-Tech) |

Fordmanck,
So you're running a straight 24 plug. The plug recommended for my 86 is a 2545. 25 stands for the style of plug and 45 is the heat range. So what is recommended for your 94. And how many heat ranges did you come down or did u stay the same. I guess what I'm really asking is how does the 24 compare to a 2545. I run the NOS dry kit for 75hp with one range colder plug (can't remeber the plug number right now) stock gapping and timing at 14. This good for me to drop 5 tenths in the 1/8th with bottle pressure 900 and slightly lower.

john_86stang,
I'm running Autolite 24's. I was running Autolite 25's before I went to N20. I'm not sure how your plugs and my plugs compare. But that is the plug I am running and it's one heat range colder than a stock plug. Hope this helped. If not you can find me on ICQ at 48188886 or AIM = Fordmanck or mail at fordmanck@yahoo.com. You'll get a little quicker response. ------------------ My 94 GT |
