Popping thru intake

I am having problems with my '87 GT with a stock 302. She recently began to "pop" thru the intake! This doesn't occur all the time, when ever she feels like it I guess. This usually occurs at a low RPM range in a higher gear, say . . below 1500 rpm's in third gear. I have not the slightest idea what to look for.
I pulled my spark plugs and checked them out . . ok, I changed the coil, checked the timing, checked fuel pressure . . . all my lines, the compression . . .and she still does it! I can run her down the 1/4 mile and not a thing happens, but coming down the return road she starts to "pop" again . . but only every other run or so.
I would greatly appeciate any ideas or suggestions that anyone might have.
Thanks a lot,
Christina

sounds like a lean mix to me. look for a vacuum leak.

I get that from time to time, when it RAINS ... I allways figured it was an electrical thing.. though now I get it from time to time at high RPMs. people have said it was bad gas... I dunno.. I suppose it's possible.. I havent ever changed my Fuel filter. Might be a good time to do so

Have you pulled any codes?

Running lean will show up in a KOEO and a KOER. It might even show what bank to check out. It might give you a starting point.

Hey guys thanks,

I know for sure the car isn't lean, that was one of the first things I had checked. She only does it when she wants . . like I could make three passes down the track and out of the blue going down the return lane she will start. This happens on the street too, but once again only every so often. I have noticed that I have lost 2 mph and a little more than a tenth off my et, so something, somewhere is wrong, Well if you guys keep picking your brains for me, I would appreciate it!
Thanks again,
Christina

I feel so much better it's not just me... I pulled a plug and it was nice and tan the way they should be... but I get this intermittent popping too.. though I found it only happens in the rain.. so it's gotta be electrical... like a bad wire or something.. might be the computer controlled timing getting messed... I'm not sure though...
