Default To port or not to port

I'm gettin a stock block built cause mine has had it, in the meantime I was wondering if $500 was a good price to have some porting done to my heads which are the gt40-p's, I have some 1.6's goin on them and also have a TFS street heat upper and lower, I got quoted $500 to clean up the heads and port them a lil, now is this worth it I never messed with heads and I wanna get this outta the way while everything is apart, I heard the heads are the best to port cause they are the power makers.
