![]() I am having major EVP sensor problems. I've had to put silicone to seal the sensor because the gasket causes there to be "excessive EVP voltage". So i did that and then it was "< EVP voltage" so i tightened it up a little bit and now it does it under acceleration only instead of all the time. I went from .46 volts (after sealing with silicone) from the sensor up to .483 at Key On engine Off. By the way, i've also vacuum tested the valve with the new sealant, and it works great.
Here's my question, can anyone please measure their EVP voltage or look it up for me because I can't find any specs ANYWHERE. I've heard that it should be about .45 volts - ???. Can anyone verify this for me. I may end up increasing the voltage some more (maybe even up to .5 volt). I want to solve this problem because it's really, REALLY driving me crazy. ![]() You know for a fact that your EGR valve is good? It's not sticking open or anything? I would just replace the EGR valve and EVP and be done with it.

![]() The EGR valve is pretty new (guy who owned car before me replaced it 6 months before he sold it to me), i took it off and there wasn't any carbon buildup on it, and the EVP sensor is about 1 month old and they're both motorcraft parts. I think i may have gotten the wrong gasket with the EVP sensor that's why i took it off, and i haven't been able to locate any others in any parts store or dealership parts place. Thanks for the reply,

![]() The voltage limits that will trip a code are .2vdc (code 31) and 4.81vdc (code 35). Anything lower than .2 will trip a code 31 and anything higher than 4.81 will trip a code 35.

![]() Thanks, PKRWUD!
I really appreciate you looking up those specs. I'm pretty sure i'll get this figured out....it may take a little while though. I think i'll check to make sure all the parts are correct for the application (my car) and see if i can adjust the EVP sensor a little more so that i don't get anymore codes. Thanks again, ------------------ Mustang Parts Specialties ripped me off, it could happen to you as well. '84 Mustang 5.0 LX my LX '89 Mustang GT my GT |
