Post porting performer intake

ok guys i'm thinking now that the intake is off the car of doing a more substantial porting job. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. (i know i cant get on line lessons but direction would be good).
Thanks

From what i've learned, you're not particularly looking to enlarge the ports, but rather you want them to flow as smoothly as possible. I've also heard that port-matching helps power and fuel economy and increases flow substancially as well. I guess my advice would be just to clean up any casting marks, smooth the ports a little and make sure that the ports line up.

yeah, If you havent done much of this stuff, Id say just smooth them out, if you start taking off a lot youre going to lose port velocity and may end up with runners that dont flow very evenly

I second all that was said. Smooth out don't take away much material and matching it to the gasket is the best way for beginners. (I would think)

im with the rest of the guys, dont take to much out. that will hurt velocity. just smooth out the casting flash and match up all the ports/runners and gaskets. go slow and keep a steady hand. you can always take more out later, but its not as easy to add what you shouldnt have removed, ya know? you didnt say what kind of combo you are running, but with the performer, if you think the motor is starving for air at the top of the rpm range, with the removable cover you could grind back the start of the runners a little bit and at the same time enlarge the plenum which would give up a little down low and probly help out on top, but this isnt something to consider if youve just got an intake and other bolt-ons. ok, im blabbering now...just go slow and steady and dont get greedy. sorry its so long, nick

They are currently port matched at best. With all the head work i cant understand why the intake didn't get more attention oh well.
Thanks for all the input. I will follow your advice and smooth out the runners. Do i need to smooth out the entire runner or just port match and smooth out the accessable areas?
Sorry my combo is below.

306ci, TFS stage 3 heads. port/pol edlebrock performer intake.
