Unhappy Bad or Dirty Air Bypass Valve???

My car runs fine on the road, but after a while of driving at consistant speeds (highway), when I pull off at a light or whatever, the engine is revving at 1500-1750 rpm. If I shut the engine off, the idle goes back to normal.

Is this the IAB valve, and if so, should I clean it out? Any help will be appreciated. Has anyone else had this problem?

A more common result of a faulty IAB valve is a poor idle when cold, however, if the valve were to stick open, it would result in a high idle when warm. That being said, and the fact that it never hurts to do it anyway, you now have valid reasons to clean yours. Get some wire pipe cleaners and a can of CRC Brakleen (green can), and go to town. Make sure you reset the ECM after you're finished.

Take care,
~Chris

It's better than nothing, but Brakleen (in the green can) is the best schit there is. It will even peel paint for you.

Take care,
~Chris
