Prepping a 302 Block for a 347

Hi,

I am building a 347. What needs to be done other than punch the block to prep it? I will get it cleaned and checked but is there any machining required to clear the crank?

Do you know how much I would be looking at in terms of cost to prep the block? (Please specify CAN or US$)

Thank you

Here's a breakdown of machine costs for my 331 that I built nearly 2 years ago:

$78 - Engine Hot Tank
$79 - Engine Hone
$112 - Engine Overbore (.030")
$170 - Spin balance (28oz imbalance) crank, fly, damper

That's $439 US.

Hope this helps.

Also, you will have clearance issues with the rods and bottom of the cylinders. Notching will be required.

Thank you very much!

That's exactly what I wanted to know! I will be using a very reputable shop to prep the block so they will know what to do. I will provide the rotating assembly with the block for them to balance and measure pistons and check for clearances.

Thank you!

Marc
