High idle
My Stang is still idling high. I have set the TPS, replaced the IAB, and replaced the computer. I can't find any vacuum leaks and don't see anywhere where the cable might be getting stuck.
It is an intermittent problem and when it happens my idle sticks around 2000 rpm. Even when it is not sticking, I can't get the car to idle below about 1200, even though I have the idle screw backed competely out. What else can I look at? Could my TPS be bad? What resistance should it show? This is really starting to get frustrating:mad: |
tps should be under 1 volt, around .98-.99

Hook a vacuum gauge up. You may have a hard to find leak.

Dark5.0 - That is one thing I haven't done. Is there a procedure somewhere for doing that? |
Sounds like vacuum leak to me. I usually just use a can of ether or carb cleaner to find vacuum leaks.

my bet it's a vacuum leak. Check this out http://www.users.bigpond.com/ergoff/vac1.htm

did u clean out your idle air control motor ( iac )? it could be sticking causing your idle issue.

Thanks for all the replies guys but, it looks like it is not my problem anymore. I ended up selling the Stang las night :( . It was my baby and I loved it, but I had to do it for now. I am going to use the money towards a house next spring. Then, once I have a garage, I can start all over :D ! |
