94Gt harmonic balancer installation

I have a 94Gt and have a bad balancer, I need to know detailed directions on pulling the old one and installing the new one? And do I need a puller if the balancer is bad?

The simplest and safest way to loosen the balancer bolt is to assemble a 1/2" drive breaker bar, 4" extension, and the proper size socket, and put it on the balancer bolt so the breaker bar handle rests on the ground, on the battery side. Disable the ignition system (disconnect the coil), and bump the starter with the key. This will break the bolt loose. Then, remove the bolt, AND the fat washer behind it.

With a harmonic balancer puller, remove the balancer.

When you install the new one, you should never tap it on, and you should never try to use the original bolt to install it. What you need to do is go to Home Depot (or any large hardware store) with your original bolt, and buy one that is two inches longer, a nut for it, and a large washer. Put some anti-seize on the crank snout. Set the balancer on the crank, thread the nut all the way up the bolt, slip on the washer, and thread the bolt into the crank as far as you can. Start the nut and washer down the bolt until it becomes tight against the balancer . Then, while holding the bolt with one wrench, tighten the nut with another wrench. Then remove the bolt, nut and washer, and reinstall the original washer and bolt. Torque to specs. This will install the balancer safely.
