gt computer
from what i hear the 94-95 cobra computer is junk, and it would help me a lot if i were to get a gt computer. Where would i go to get one? i checked and can not find any local junk yards or something like that. does anyone have a website of somewhere that would have what i need?

try the contacting the place www.mustangspecialties.com for info on that. they have complete rebuildable mustangs (mostly newer) and some parting out. they may be able to get a computer for you.

The 94-95 computers are no better. Same ignition retard at shifts.
I had to go with the Pro-M PIH too swap in a 93 GT comp but I hear Saleen or someone has a new completely reprogrammed computer for 94-95 without having to change the pins around in the harness. |
The ignition retard is not the biggest drawback to the Cobra computer CJ's94GT, it's the 7 second delay before going into open loop.
Although getting an A9L fox computer would be the most aggressive, it wouldn't be able to run the electric fans for sure. They don't bolt in perfect. I wonder what Ford wants for one? Last time I called for my 5.0 it was around $180. |
Ya lost me on that 7 second thing, but the PIH from Pro-M has a fan controller on it so you can turn the fan on at the temps you want. You are right about the old computers not bolting in perfect, you have to reposition 6 fuel injector firing pins in the harness, the rest are piddly "Air B" kind of stuff.
Haven't gotten my GD MMFF so I can't look for that ad for the aftermarket computer for the 94-95. |
so what can i buy that would work all of my stuff and give me better loops?
|
Found that ad I was looking for.
It is by Saleen and the ad says it is a completely reprogrammed PCM for Mustangs "customised to your vehicles unique specifications and modifications." Nevermind, I just found the fine print at the bottom of the page. It says for 96-01 Stangs only. Screw us 94-95 owners again. http://www.mustangworks.com/interact...gboard/mad.gif Superchips swears up and down they can burn a chip that will solve all our problems. I've got the questionnaire and can post the ?'s they ask if interested. I wish I'd never screwed with this car but I'm too far into it to take it back to stock. |
If you can post the questions that would be great... i am looking to do the same with my gt.. my mechanic said if i did some thing to the computer in my car it would haul A$$... so i would love to make is run better...

Prices : Don't remember what the regular chip costs, but the custom programming costs an extra $125.00 that is not refundable. If the chip doesn't help you can get your money back minus the $125 for the custom program. They also have a "flip chip" that gives you two profiles, like economy/firebreather. That costs $450. Superchips assured me they have a large enough database of Stangs and combos to be able to burn a chip without seeing the car. I dunno, I've burned a LOT of money on parts that would "cure" all my problems. Car problems, that is. http://www.mustangworks.com/interact...rd/biggrin.gif [This message has been edited by CJ's94GT (edited 02-17-2001).] |
so short of a chip there is nothing that i can do? what about after market...there has to be something out there...doesn't there?

There is an EEC tuner you can buy that hooks to your existing computer and allows you to adjust all values within the computer. they're $389. You can find one at http://www.eec-tuner.com. There are many posts on www.sn95.com web site telling about what can be changed by the tuner in forum section, under EEC Tuner.
|
I actually thought about going that route, but there are too many variables to try to tune to get it running right.
I'm not that patient or that good of a tuner http://www.mustangworks.com/interact...oard/frown.gif |
Damn... I was just about to post a question asking about chips for my '95 GT... Well, guess I have another question, should I wait till I do all the mods that I want to do before I get a chip? Right now, it's completely stock. I'm going to get a Cat-Back, 4:10 gears, probably redo the intake, and the chip. At about what type of HP, and 1/4 mile time would this put me at? It's AOD by the way... Thanks!
