Getting new shocks/struts
When I replace them, should I get the ones that are for a 4 cylinder car, or the ones for a V8?
I'm looking for good weight transfer here, and not handling. Also, I've got the front sway bar off, and personally, I think that it actually handle's better with it OFF then back when it was on. When it was on, the car would not lean at all in the turns and the tires would break loose and go into a skid. Now with it off, the car leans a lot, and the tire really digs in. No more dangerous skids. I've also got coil springs from a 4 cylinder car on the back. My question is: Should I keep or remove the rear sway bar? And should I keep my V8 springs in the front, or replace them with 4 cylinder springs? |
My sway is off and i doubt i will ever put it back on, especially cuz im cuttin 1.9 60's on little tires, and IMO the 4cyl springs should be up front, and v8's on back.

I too for sure will never put my front sway bar back on. I like how much nicer the car rides now. It's like a boat instead of a go-cart. :)
With those stiff springs on the back, the rear of the car won't squat on take off. I want the rear to "slam" down on my back tires right? Does your front end fly up on take off with the 4 banger springs on the front? |
Sorry i mislead you, but i dont have 4 banger springs it was just a thought, but my car quats majorly on a good traction launch.
I guess some squatting is good. But yea my front end comes up pretty high http://www.mustangworks.com/interact...rd/biggrin.gif ------------------ 90 lx coupe: Mac cold air fenderwell, accel supercoil, advncd ignition,3-core radiatr, FMS alum D/S, Black magic fan, 3.27grs, 3chbr flows. Well i do feel a little more unstableness without the sway in the steering, and i feel some road vibration through the steering wheel, probaly need new struts myself, cuz i hit a dip in the road pretty hard and bottomed out.

With the front springs being as stiff as they are, do they actually hold the front end down on take off?
That's why I was wondering about running the 4 cylinder springs upfront. |
I would guess, the stiffer the front suspension, the quicker it transfers weight to the rear wheels http://www.mustangworks.com/interact...oard/smile.gif just my .2
But no it wont hold the front down, they probaly make it jump higher. But getting too stiff interferes with daily driving of course. |
What about the rear sway bar? Keep it on the car, or pull it off for the weight savings?
